sofa and tinfoil

Adrian auditioned for the 25th season of The Real World but didn't get the part as sassy gay catalyst. He should have worn that hat to the callbacks and then I think the outcome would be different.

oh. my. gawd.

Well I had an interesting morning.

While grabbing breakfast, I thought I had inadvertently walked into a furry convention, but unfortunately had not. I have never been in the actual presence of an authentic furry-and thought today was going to be the day. Damn. USC's manga convention (or something) was actually happening and I didn't have the 'nads to directly take photos of all the out-there costumes, except for one. . .

This girl was so sweet, and she didn't have a "samurai sword" or Sailor Moon powers with which to attack me for taking her picture. Though I am not sure what character she was going for (or anyone else attending, for that matter), I think she looks like a Pink Panther/Care Bear hybrid-and that's alright with me.

Here is my one photo from last night's Arcade Mall show for the Indie Grits festival. So much fun.

. . . but here's what it really felt like:

jeezlouise

I promise this will (most likely) be the last cover song I post for a while-but this one in particular is still pretty good. Conan O'Brien, covering Radiohead's Creep. Once the song hits the 1:30 mark, he starts to sound like Thom Yorke (kiiiiiiinda) and if it weren't for Yorke's lazy eye, I might have forgotten this was not actually Radiohead.

Man, listen to that Cockney-"this accent's insulting to actors like Hugh Laurie." haha. . .

no way jose!

My friend Mr. Michael Jones and I colored the No Way Jose! coloring book which came with the vinyl they just released and that Sam illustrated. . . . Xeroxed pages of it, actually-didn't wanna decrease its value. Coloring parties are always a lot of fun, you can read Mike's account here.

This coloring and activity book is seriously the greatest. If/when I become a first-grade teacher, I will hand these sheets out as rainy-day-indoor-recess activity (uhmmm schoolhouse rock, indeed).

transmission

Steel drum band covering Joy Division's Transmission. Completely awesome, right? Don't frow up watching the vidya, though. . . And there's more! Is Joy Division big in the Caribbean or something; this is the "happiest" Ian Curtis' music has probably ever sounded.

wave of the future

cheeeeeeesin'
John's "Deathstar"

This past Thursdee I went to Aaron & Grants' campaign future world fair at 701. Attendees were encouraged to dress futuristic-so basically I was "Cleopatra of the 23rd century." duh. Oh! There was also a build-the-future-of-Columbia with Lego's that was really cool. Unfortunately, I realized that talent in building Lego infrastructures is limited to few, myself not included.
