(tangible) things I'm working on

...aside from my grade point average.

reattaching my ballerina's arm

fixing broken jewelry
revamping old jewelry
actually wearing the contents of my closet--none of this has seen the light of day (NOTE: there are roughly 2.5 layers pictured).
attempting to make the sugar skull cherubs I painted during my bout with swine flu less...jim crow-ish.

talk radio

J. Ruttle co-hosted my "playing favorites" radio show with me. Our gift to the listener: two hours of The Wedding Present. We also gave (or would have if you called in) away a ghost story written by John, two signed head shots of ourselves, DJ Danasaur-made mix tape and a song written about you by us. While we did not get any donations, we received a "heavy breather" phone call and DJ Foxtrot is still going to publish said ghost story.

friday crafternoon

Kay and I are in charge of this year's WUSC fundraising money meter. Once we decide there is adequate glitter, I'll post a full photo. Kay also has some pretty gross pumpkins on her porch..

Before implosion, this pumpkin read as "R U A WHORE?"

film schoolin'

Kay, Ryan and I went to the Nick for the first (of hopefully many) installment of a local short film screening. I am sure there have been some in the past, but I have not attended any. Although the event was free, I would have gladly handed over a few bones to see these homegrown shorts.

I favored the mockumentary-esque films which teetered on the edge of being serious. Case in point:
Buffer Zone, which expressed the plight of a Food Lion employee who does not get due respect from waxing and polishing floors. The subject's dead-pan delivery of the unfairness in supermarket heiarchy actually made me feel empathy, if only for, like, a second. Another film, Unfettering the Falcons, brings to surface how wrong we are in referring to all falcons as, well, falcons. It turns out that only female falcons should be categorized as such while the male version is actually a tercel . I guess you really do learn something new every day.

My absolute favorite though, was
Canimorphs, if only for the intro.

third kind

I gave mine personality.

As I was walking into Student Media, I passed a garbage can topped off with three trays of bizarre, unidentified white objects. Since the mouth-shaped objects were in a trash can I was wary to pick them up, thinking they were somehow toxic (not quite bio hazard material, but still...); in addition to the fear of being caught of course. I'm just not that weird. So I waited, and about an hour later decided to dumpster dive for one of these oddities-and I was not the only one. When I returned to the trash can a second time, there were only about a dozen left. Needless to say, I am glad I risked my reputation because it turns out these weird things actually serve a purpose. This so-called "Page-Pal" holds papers for when you type, or so I was told by a fellow scavenger.

dia de los muertos

Ivory was an Ewok! It was so amazing-she made her costume.

har har..

me..just chillin' with some death.

Feliz de dia de los muertos! Marcie bought a 2gether cd at Goodwill in celebration. Legend has it, the creepy old man in the "band" is Chris Farley's brother.
