fuck yeah gaga

Apparently this video was banned from MTV. Awesome. Gaga obviously drinks a lot of coffee.

a lil' pick me up. . .

On my way to the library this morning, I was given a piece of paper from an on-campus group of (albeit self-righteous) activists. I was initially a little irked; usually I turn on tunnel vision and can avoid these situations. Today, though, I could not escape the enthusiasm of one perky girl, nor her sentiment as she handed me the slip: "I think you need this." My fortune cookie prize read as follows: Coffee drinkers have sex more frequently than non-coffee drinkers. Must have been the large coffee I was carrying.

HAH! Fuck yes we do. Now I have evidence of how awesome I am and will tape this to my mirror as a daily reminder.

Forever a great time. Here you are: Teabag Balzac and Co. cockrockin' on the Statehouse grounds. Thanks, Adrian, for helping me take photos while I was mesmerized by Mr. B's Dixie banana hammock. Here's a better account of the show/event.

happy birthday...

Flannery O'Connor!! You would be 85 today if you didn't die at just 39!
I really love her stories and this is a (somewhat edited) vidya adaptayshun of my favorites, Good Country People. The ending is so great. I definitely recommend reading it though... (cue Reading Rainbow theme)

spring break '90something!!!

WUSC is holding it's semi-annual fundraiser this week. The theme: Spring Break Mix Tape. DJs are encouraged to play what they might on a road trip or during spring break. ...so basically what the DJ already plays on his/her show; but since the NO TOP 40 rule still applies I cannot bust out my Bananarama or Ace of Base. Damn.

I think I'm just going to review previous high school mixes and run with it. So yeah, lots of Doolittle-era Pixies , old-school Grandaddy and Jesus & Mary Chain.
Plus, like, 57 Beat Happening songs because-honestly-they're all I ever listen to during long car rides.

Any requests?! My show is Saturday afternoons two-four pm and you can webstream it.

The highest donor for my show will get a handmade thank-you card and mix tape!

ch-ch-changes (part II)

After nearly eight years sans-meat (with the exception of feeeesh), I am thinking of changin' my ways. I am not sure I want to continue my vege/pescatarianism for much longer. I get sick, all the time it seems, and I think my diet is to blame.

I eat a lot of iron-plenty, "leafy greens" and produce but still I get sick. I would say, on average, I get sick (like really sick: like, go to the doctor almost every time because it feels like Strep) between four and six times a year. That's a helluvalotta doctor visits; and it's never strep!

This may be the NyQuil talking, but I will allow myself some chicken and see what happens.

we'll see. Maybe I should just get my tonsils removed?

llama liberation

no one loves me. . . heeeehawww

The five points St. Patrick's Day celebratory event was today. I went to a petting zoo and took pictures of the world's saddest Shetland pony and Adrian dressed as an extra from The Warriors.

Last night some friends attempted to free a llama (or two); sadly, this plan was not realized.

ch-ch-changes.

I realized today in my Principles of Public Relations class that I do not want to write press releases for a living-I want to write the alphabet; so I am changin' my major! It will only the second time in my collegiate career, but will be a bit tricky since this requires me leaving JSchool. The transition will take me from Public Relations to EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION!!!!!1 I'm pretty excited. Teaching always sat preciously in the back of my mind but about a month ago I realized that I reallyreallyreally want to be a teacher. I thought that switching my minor from art history to education would work but talking to my mom inspired me to change completely. I still need to discuss the move with my advisor, which will have to wait until after spring break (I need about a week to sleep on it...but who "sleeps" on dreams, anyway); hopefully I can cram in enough classes in the next year or two so that I graduate on time. Weeeeeooooooo.

Quoth Whitney Houston:
I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

I cannot wait to do what I have wanted since I was a babe, and hopefully it won't be like this.

midsquirms

It's midterm season once again which explains why I haven't posted in forever. So..here are some songs that have helped me in the awful paper writing-and-notecard-making process. the videos are kind of cool, too.

Also: it snowed tonight, the second time this year. hollaaaaa. I finally got around to watching Julien Donkey Boy-and I thought Gummo was weird!?
