I have finally decided a Halloween costume. No longer going as Barbarella, a maneater or thunderstorm, but instead, a Lichtenstein girl from one of his paintings.

So excited for this weekend-I have two costumes, y'all!!1

For Friday's festivities I shall be a thunderstorm, complete with water pistol with which to "rain" on people I do not like. Teased hair is a must but I do not want to give too much away. No way am I posting what Saturday's costume will be. I have been moderately tight-lipped about it for months and I only have to wait a few more days... All I can say is I have yet to get a KFC bucket (sans chicken, respectively) and "blood" to complete the look.

Hardy was the Yesterday's cowboy for a night-but there was no bathtub for him to sit in. I did get a photo and coozie, though! The WUSC Fall Fundraiser show was also last night. Good thing we spent money bringing Cement Stars and The Cubists to town but everyone was at the Austin Crane CD release. You guys suck and missed an awesome show.

I found these sweet Guatemalan worry dolls that my parents gave me when I was a kid. There used to be two more, but I must have been a paranoid android and wore them out. I have been using them a lot this week, and I am certain they will work overtime once finals roll around.

I caved. I absolutely had to. I got a new camera today. It's all the Geek Squad's fault, too. I have this perfectly fine Sony Cyber-shot that I purchased only three years ago, but the flash stopped working. I explained my problem and constantly reiterated how the camera still worked well, but it ultimately "wouldn't be worth it y'know, once parts and labor are calculated." I got physically upset at this, and I think the geek could tell I was flustered because I could even feel my cheeks becoming red, but hey.

Long post short: I have the most up-to-date version of the camera I had before-but it is so much cooler. Technology really is amazing, and that's all I am going to say about that. The first two things I snapped: a leopard coat I took to get hemmed this afternoon and an autumnal floral arrangement my mom made.

I am still going to take my little darlin' somewhere for a second opinion-I refuse to give up on her. In the end, however, I may just sell the damned thing. So if you do not mind a camera sans flash (or maybe you have the Midas touch of technology), I can give you a pretty sweet deal on a camera equally as sweet.

Bring Out the Gimp

I was a subject for two photo shoots this week!! suck it, Frey. Jenna's, which took place on Monday, was pretty titillating: I got nakey and crawled inside a Plexiglas box. Surprisingly comfortable. In all seriousness, I had no problems stripping down for this project because A. Jenna is very professional B. not much-if anything-is actually visible C. by reading this post you have promised to never tell Momma Witkoski and D. the concept is really intriguing. I explain it terribly, but I'll give it a go: through photos, Jenna hopes to portray society's perceptions on sexuality and how we contain them in a "box" that further constrains them. ...I think that's the gist. Jenna is hoping to showcase her work within the next few months in her own show. Pretty excitin': I get free matted prints of the photos I want.

Ryan shot me tonight. Like a previous shoot of hers, I had a blast. I wore leopard print and teased hair, smoked cigarettes and drank wine. Pictures soon, of course.

In a related story: My digital camera jumped out of my hands, like, thirty times at Sailabration! and currently refuses flash photography. In the hopes that I can get her back before Halloween, she will be sent off to Best Buy/Sony doctors tomorrow. Thank God I have my Polaroid insurance to fall back on.

Okay the cat. John & Adrian & Co. sort of adopted this stray cat someone had granted them. Here's the best part: she has a gimp leg!! It is kind of cute how she manages down stairs (not so cute is the mange framing her face..). They named her Stokely Catmichael, a nod to the Black Panthers founder, Stokely Carmichael. I'm a sucker for puns, so naturally I love the name.

OH! (speaking of cats) Food Lion makes Cheerwine creamcicles. So good.

Alejandro just explained to me what daggering, or "daggeration," is. hotdamn.

Finally: all physical abnormalities aside, can we collectively agree that Amy's sweater (sans ruffle blouse) is actually really cute and would look effin' adorable with a black mini skirt?

Sailabration! was last night, sailors/anything water-related was the theme. Most people, including myself, dressed as the former. Also last night: I prepared a shrimp tray for the first time-so gross. Guests ate the whole damn thing though, so I assume it was a success. I reaaaaaally wanted to pick up some Sailor Jerry-esque temporary tattoos for the event, but could not find any. Five sharpies later, I was content with my free-form flash mermaid hanging out on my forearm. I also drew on a few party-goers but the quality of work definitely deterred as the evening progressed, to say the least. Sorry.... Hope nobody woke up sea-sick this morning.

I went to the Sweet Vans show last night. ...And it was good-like, really good. The remixed "Don't Get Raped" is a formula for a feel-good hit. The 5 Points sidewalk sale was today, in addition to the Chili Cook off and Blues Festival. Damn 5 Points, way to try to win me over while my love, Adriana's, is closing. Marcie took a mug as a keepsake. I took advantage of the $20 rack at Mary.

I finally received in the mail this beautiful postcard Kendal painted. I am glad I have friends who major in studio art because then I can get cool things like this! Love you, Krispy Kendal!

Adriana's is closing. I just got confirmation from Josh "Doomslang" McCormack. I figured he would know, being an employee of Five Points. Apparently it will be converted into a dress shop. 'scuse me??

I simply can not handle this right now. This better be a downright dirty lie; Joe Wilson, where are you when we really need you?

On the bright side*, I will be able to fall asleep easier, sans caffeine, and I can hang out at the Thomas Cooper Library more!! I need a hobby. Lately, I have been pretty into revamping vintage (that's certainly an overused word..) jewelry which is cool, right? Shit..I seriously go to Adriana's at least two-three times per week. No more people-watching from the sidewalk, no more Orangina nights. I can feel the DT's already. Get me a pail and call me "hurlfacedana," I am going to be ill.

Six rolls of Polaroid film have been bestowed upon me. Being a Polaroid millionaire, I decided to gloat and document my wealth. However digitally, for these hard economic times still require a sense of frugality. In addition, my stocks rose as I re-discovered a roll of film Kendal gave me for my birthday. This particular roll is valuable because A. it is from Kendal and B. it is expired so all the photos turn out really orange and it's awesome.

Minus the pounding headache perpetually resonating in the back of the right side of my neck, I feel A-OK, instead of grade-A (though it was most definitely a C) Pork. I still cannot do much because I get really tired pretty fast which must have resulted from the massive amounts of TV I have consumed. I've turned into quite the couch potato in the past few days. Last night my prayers were answered, as I watched four hours of a Roseanne Marathon. Season Five. It was only mediocre because this was the season where Becky and Mark eloped and she pretty much goes MIA ("Minnesota"). Darlene still has some good lines.

And then I hit a real low point: after seeing an advertisement for the series box set of Ally McBeal, I thought "hmm. that looks funny." If anyone has seen this show will you tell me it's at least sort of entertaining? I mean, Jon Bon Jovi is in a season or two, right? Maybe I can just blame the swine for that.

I found this really cute blog about the travels and antics surrounding two milk teeth. This is definitely one of my favorites.
